Installation of a DiSEqC 1.2 H-H Motorized Mount
[Back to Technical Support]

Installation of any H-H mount is not difficult, provided the included instruction manual is followed to the letter.  A general instructional procedure is included below.  Please adjust receiver settings per the instructions in the motor manual as the instructions included with your new motor are more pertinent.

General Instructions for DiSEqC Motor Installation:

It is very important to make sure the mount is fixed to a perfectly vertical mast. Time spent measuring this accurately will save you hours later on. Set the DiSEqC mount back to zero degrees by connecting the receiver to the mount. The receiver must be on for the mount to move. It is easier to do this before placing the H-H mount onto the mast. Once you have done this, the mount should then be disconnected from the receiver. Fit the H-H mount onto the mast and screw the nuts up finger tight. Use an angle finder or the elevation scale sides of the mount to set the H-H mount elevation angle. This angle should be calculated from the latitude of the installation location. Fit the dish on to the front of the H-H mount arm and tighten the nuts. The middle of the dish clamp must be lined up with the center line on the H-H mount arm. Aiming TRUE SOUTH: Move the dish back and forth by moving the H-H mount clamp attached to the vertical mast. Make sure the dish remains on the center line displayed on the H-H mount arm. You can find TRUE SOUTH by using a compass (Magnetic south) and compensating for Magnetic variation. See the chart here: http://www.geo-orbit.org/sizepgs/magmapsp.html

You will also have to adjust the elevation scale on the dish to get the signal to PEAK in.

Elevation angle of the dish should be as follows: Motech SG2100: 30 minus the declination angle STAB MOTORS: See instruction booklet

Tighten the nuts on the H-H mount clamp attached to the mast.

By following the above instructions accurately, you should now have installed your dish on the arc.

TESTING: Re-connect the receiver to the H-H mount. Connect the LNB to a signal meter or use the receiver signal meter on your TV screen. With the satellite meter still connected, move the dish east by pressing the small east button underneath the H-H mount (SG2100) or the receiver remote control (for the Stab brands). For USALS capable receivers, use the USALS feature. Peak the signal on the meter for the farthest Eastern satellite in the horizon until you believe it is as good as you can get by moving both east and west. With the satellite meter still connected, select a Western satellite and move the dish west. Peak the signal on the meter until you believe it is as good as you can get by moving both east and west. Now, tighten the H-H mount on the mast. You are done.

The warranty provided by the manufacturer is in effect as long as the installer follows the manufacturer guidelines.  Purchase of a motor usually points to a new hobbyist at the satellite controls.  Happy surfing!
