1. New DISH Network customer selects a qualifying DISH 500 satellite TV system, Model 3822/3922 or higher.

2. Customer provides a valid major credit card and agrees to subscribe to America's Top 150, America's Top 100 CD or DISH Latino Dos plus additional programming totaling at least $39.98 per month.

One Antenna, Two-Way:
StarBand uses a single satellite dish antenna for receiving AND for sending information - no telephone connection is needed. Plus, the StarBand antenna can accommodate both the Internet and EchoStar's DISH Network® satellite TV programming, so StarBand's service can bring the Internet and hundreds of channels of television into your home, all through one dish antenna.

Always-On Access:
StarBand service features "always-on" Internet access, with no wait to reconnect every time you want to surf the Web or check e-mail. You'll stay connected to the Internet via a high-speed link as long as your computer is on.

High-Speed:
StarBand downloads at speeds up to ten times faster than dial-up service - 500 kbps with targeted peak-time speeds in excess of 150 kbps. StarBand's current upload speeds range between 40 and 60 kbps. Peak time is weekday evenings.

Nationwide Availability:
StarBand service is available virtually everywhere in the continental United States and Alaska, so you control your Internet access options regardless of how far away you live from the nearest telephone switch or cable node. Service to Hawaii and Puerto Rico will be coming soon.

How it Works

The StarBandSM system consists of a 24x36-inch satellite dish mounted on or near your home (1.2 meter satellite dish in Alaska). The dish must have a clear unobstructed view of the southern sky. Two standard coaxial cables connect the satellite dish antenna to a PC or a StarBand "satellite modem."

The antenna both sends requests to the Internet and receives Internet content via the satellite, which is in orbit approximately 22,300 miles above the equator. The satellite, in turn, communicates with StarBand's hub facility, which has a direct connection to the Internet.

The StarBand system can also be configured to receive satellite television service from EchoStar's DISH Network® - in addition to your two-way satellite Internet service from StarBand - using a single dish antenna.

Inside your house, the StarBand system consists of either a "satellite modem" that attaches to your home PC through the USB port, or a pre-configured desktop PC outfitted with a satellite receiver card and a satellite transmitter card. In both cases, no telephone connection, dial-up account or other Internet service providers are needed. StarBand does it all for you.
